About the Event
This one day conference will provide expert specialist clinical training and essential information for GPs and their practice colleagues about primary care of children and adults with learning/intellectual disabilities.
Topics include:
. NHSE Action from Learning report 2021/22 NHSE Action from Learning report 2021/22 - the talk will cover the section on management of medical conditions.
. Disorders of vision in people with a learning disability
. Digital solutions in primary care for supporting the health of people with a learning disability
. Palliative care of people with a learning disability – developing a service
. The role of genomics in people with a learning disability
Learning Objectives
. To understand the health inequalities experienced by people with a learning disability
. To develop skills in understanding the role of general practice in supporting the health and well-being of people with a learning disability
. To improve understanding of some of the significant health and care problems that people with a learning disability experience
. To gain insight into the benefits of involving people with a learning disability in developing their care.
. Understanding when genomic testing may be of value but also to cover the ethical / consent challenges associated with testing
. Co-developing a palliative care service with people with a learning disability
. Understanding and managing dysphagia risk in people with learning disability
